Offering Dual Credit Courses

Dual Credit allows juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. These courses are used to satisfy the high school’s graduation requirements, “co-enrollment” if taken for college credit only, or “credit-in-escrow” if part of an approved Tech-Prep Articulation Agreement.

Advanced Placement Courses

Along with 26 AP classes, Vandegrift High School (VHS) offers 17 Pre-AP courses. Topics include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Languages (French, Latin, Spanish), Technology Apps, and Art/Music Electives.

Grading Criteria

Modified Scale 4.0,       Regular Scale 5.0,       Pre-AP/AP 6.0

Students receive additional weight in their grade point average for taking Pre-AP or AP courses. Students that qualify for special services may take classes for basic credit. Those courses will be on a modified scale. Students’ grades are reported numerically and not by letter grade. Our system has the ability to convert our weighted numeric grades into a 4.0 scale. In our system, a 4.0 scale coverts to:

90-100 A 4.0,       80-89 B 3.0,       70-79 C 2.0,       69 or below F 0.0
